INFORMATION ABOUT THE MISS PENNSYLVANIA'S OUTSTANDING TEEN PAGEANT PRINCESS CAMP

The Miss Pennsylvania Princess Camp takes place during the week of the Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant.  This Princess Camp was established to be a non-competitive environment for young ladies (ages 3-12) who are interested in participating in pageants. During their time at camp they do fun activities, meet the Miss Pennsylvania and Miss Pennsylvania's Outstanding Teen titleholders and contestants, and participate in rehearsals for onstage appearances.  Each Princess receives gifts and a crowning ceremony takes place with Miss Pennsylvania and Miss Pennsylvania's Outstanding Teen.  Our program is very different from typical child pageant programs in that each girl establishes themselves as a titleholder by wearing a crown ~ making each girl feel special. Our camp is managed in a very secure setting with many camp counselors available to watch and help the Princesses.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  Is there a fee?

Yes, there is a fee of $150 for participation in the camp. This fee helps us to provide a unique opportunity for the Princesses to have an "Up-Close-and-Personal" pageant experience. Checks are to be made to the Miss Pennsylvania Organization and mailed to:
Judy Guinosso
219 Heatherfield Drive
Souderton, PA 18964

Do you accept fees via PayPal or credit cards?

We only accept checks or money orders.

Does it always take place during the week of the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant?

Yes.  This is so we can provide the children a behind-the-scenes look at the Miss Pennsylvania Organization.

What will my daughter do there?

On the first day of camp, your child will participate in age-related activities, a tour of the theater housing the pageant, meet the contestants, and rehearse.  The rest of the week will mostly involve rehearsals but snacks and an ice cream social with the teen contestants takes place.  Every day the Princesses will receive a token to take home and there is a crowning ceremony on Friday night before the Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.

 What is she rehearsing for?

Your daughter will have participation in the Miss Pennsylvania Preliminaries on Wednesday and Thursday of pageant week and will perform a dance/production number during the Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen Pageant on Friday evening.

What should she wear?

During the camp times, she should be in sneakers and comfortable play clothes so she can be comfortable during rehearsals.  She should have her hair ready and styled somewhat as there is a small window of time to get her ready from rehearsal to show time.  Once you have signed up your child for the camp, we will send an informational email to advise you on what production would like her to wear for Miss PA and the teen pageant.

Am I allowed to go to the camp with her?

We will allow the parents of those children ages 3 to 5 to come camp on the FIRST day.  For those children that are older, parents are to drop them off in the lobby with a camp counselor.

What about security?

We will have an adequate amount of counselors to monitor the children.  No child will be allowed to go anywhere in the building without a chaperone.  All of the children are to arrive with their parents in the lobby of the theater.  The parent MUST NOT leave the child until a camp counselor has checked off that child’s name as arrived and in our care.

On the nights that my daughter is to be on stage, may I come back to help her?

Yes.  We expect all mothers (or guardian) to come backstage and help their daughter get ready for the show.  Because the contestants for the Miss PA and teen pageants are backstage getting ready as well, fathers or male chaperones are NOT allowed backstage.  Usually, the camp/rehearsals go for about an hour-and-a-half before the parents are allowed to come backstage.  All parents must be collected in the lobby and brought back at the same time.  This is for the security of our Princesses, contestants and volunteers.

My daughter has participated in pageants before.  We would like to have her spray tanned, wear a hair piece and wear a dental prosthetic.

We do not approve of the items mentioned above for this particular camp.  Our organization highly promotes the natural beauty of these children and expect that all parents will comply.

Is make-up allowed?

Yes.  Moderate make-up is allowed but it must be age appropriate.

Will my daughter do appearances throughout the year?

We do not have appearances during the pageant season with our state princesses but there are some local pageants in the Miss PA system that has Princess programs of their own.  I would recommend you visit www.misspa.org to see if there is a local pageant near you and then inquire if they have a Princess Program.

Are we allowed to take pictures?

Due to a contract we have with our state pageant photographer, the taking of photos is not allowed. However, we have our photographer email one photo of your daughter on stage.  Photo packages are available.

Will my daughter be on stage during the Miss Pennsylvania finals?

No.  Due to the extensive production that is involved for the finals night, we must adhere to production times.  The camp ends on Friday evening with tickets available for Saturday night.  The Princesses, should you stay for Saturday’s finals, will be expected to wear their crowns in the audience.

Will I get free tickets if my daughter is participating in the Camp?

The Princess and ONE chaperone are entitled to free tickets for the Miss Pennsylvania preliminaries and the Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen Pageant; discounts for tickets for the Miss Pennsylvania finals is determined yearly.  You will be notified if a discount for Miss PA finals will take place.
