Kaitlyn Miller is the daughter of John and Mia Miller, of Swoyersville, has
an older sister Kelsey, who is a junior at Penn State University and a Shih-tzu
puppy named Bella. Kaitlyn is a senior at Wyoming Valley West High School,
located in Plymouth, where she is enrolled in Honors and Advanced Placement
classes. She is the President of Future Business Leaders of America, and a
member of Student Council, National Honor Society, and the Class of 2013
Club. She is also a member of the Colorguard and Dance Team for the Marching
Band, who performs on Friday night at the football games. Kaitlyn is also
involved in winter and spring track, youth ministry, and is a cantor and
alter server at her church. Kaitlyn plans to attend college with a double
major in dance and business to eventually perform professionally and one day
open her own dance studio.
Kaitlyn has been competing in the Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen
Organization since 2009, where she won her first local title within the Miss
MidState Organization, being named the first Miss State Capitol’s
Outstanding Teen. After receiving Third Runner-Up that year at Miss
Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, she never gave up on her journey for the
crown. She then won Miss York County’s Outstanding Teen in 2010 and was
named Non-Finalist Evening Gown and Scholastic Award Winner at the state
pageant. Going back for the third year, representing Berks County as Miss
Greater Reading’s Outstanding Teen she was awarded the Leadership Award and
Third Runner-Up again. After that state pageant in 2011, Kaitlyn knew the
next year would be the last year she would compete as a teen and knew she
had to give it her all if she really wanted it. She won her local title
within the Miss MidState Organization again, being was named Miss MidState’s
Outstanding Teen 2012. Never giving up on her dream in becoming Miss
Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen, she was crowned on May 25, 2012. She now
has the opportunity of representing Pennsylvania at Miss America’s
Outstanding Teen in Orlando in August.
