NAZARETH, Pa. — Elena LaQuatra,
who was named Miss Central Pa. Outstanding Teen at a pageant
in Lewistown, was crowned Miss Pennsylvania Outstanding Teen
America Friday at Nazareth High School.
LaQuatra, 15,
of Mount Lebanon, is the first winner of the Mifflin County
pageant to capture a state crown. The Mount Lebanon High
School sophomore is the daughter of Paul and Effie LaQuatra,
of Mount Lebanon.
LaQuatra plans on a career in
medicine, with an interest in becoming a neonatologist or
pediatrician. She also is an advocate for the hearing
impaired, and is a spokesperson for DePaul School for Hearing
and Speech.
She has been trained in dance, and as her
talent selection, performed a tap dance. She is an honor roll
student who has received several academic awards.
